Mirror Manifolds in Higher Dimension

چکیده
We describe mirror manifolds in dimensions different from the familiar case of complex threefolds. We emphasize the simplifying features of dimension three and supply more robust methods that do not rely on such special characteristics and hence naturally generalize to other dimensions. The moduli spaces for Calabi–Yau d-folds are somewhat different from the “special Kähler manifolds” which had occurred for d = 3, and we indicate the new geometrical structures which arise. We formulate and apply procedures which allow for the construction of mirror maps and the calculation of order-by-order instanton corrections to Yukawa couplings. Mathematically, these corrections are expected to correspond to calculating Chern classes of various parameter spaces (Hilbert schemes) for rational curves on Calabi–Yau manifolds. Our results agree with those obtained by more traditional mathematical methods in the limited number of cases for which the latter analysis can be carried out. Finally, we make explicit some striking relations between instanton corrections for various Yukawa couplings, derived from the associativity of the operator product algebra.

HyperKähler Manifolds and Birational Transformations
The minimal model program has greatly enhanced our knowledge on birational geometry of varieties of dimension 3 and higher. About the same time, the last two decades have also witnessed increasing interests in HyperKähler manifolds, a particular class of Calabi-Yau manifolds. One interest in this area, which we hope to treat in the future, is to investigate the behavior of the SYZ mirror conjec...
متن کاملSelf-dual Manifolds and Mirror Symmetry for the Quintic Threefold
For all m ≥ 1 we build a two-dimensional family of smooth manifolds of real dimension 3m + 2 and use it to interpolate between the anticanonical family in CP and its mirror dual. The main tool is the notion of self-dual manifold.
متن کاملGeneralized Calabi - Yau Manifolds and the Mirror of a Rigid Manifold
The Z manifold is a Calabi–Yau manifold with b 21 = 0. At first sight it seems to provide a counter example to the mirror hypothesis since its mirror would have b 11 = 0 and hence could not be Kähler. However by identifying the Z manifold with the Gepner model 1 9 we are able to ascribe a geometrical interpretation to the mirror, ˜ Z, as a certain seven-dimensional manifold. The mirror manifold...
متن کاملThe Geometry Underlying Mirror Symmetry
The recent result of Strominger, Yau and Zaslow relating mirror symmetry to the quantum field theory notion of T-duality is reinterpreted as providing a way of geometrically characterizing which Calabi–Yau manifolds have mirror partners. The geometric description—that one Calabi–Yau manifold should serve as a compactified, complexified moduli space for special Lagrangian tori on the other Calab...
متن کاملF-theory Duals of M-theory on G2 Manifolds from Mirror Symmetry
Using mirror pairs (M3,W3) in type II superstring compactifications on Calabi-Yau threefols, we study, geometrically, F-theory duals of M-theory on seven manifolds with G2 holonomy. We first develop a new way for getting Landau Ginzburg (LG) CalabiYau threefols W3, embedded in four complex dimensional toric varieties, mirror to sigma model on toric Calabi-Yau threefolds M3. This method gives di...
